A Slice of Korean Cuisine with Sepial Shim: Recipe Highlights
The bulgogi sauce in your MARKET BOX comes from Sepial's Kitchen – an Asian-inspired restaurant based in Salt River, Cape Town. Owner, Sepial Shim, specialises in curating vegan meals with a focus on Korean cuisine – and boy, does she know what she’s doing.
The bulgogi sauce in your box is just one of Sepial’s many vegan creations! This 100% plant-based sauce is made from soy sauce, sesame oil, onion, garlic, ginger, fresh apple, pear, ground black pepper and a bit of sugar. Watch her use the sauce in this week’s UCOOK Along, this Thursday at 6pm on the @ucook.market Instagram channel, as she guides you through a Korean-inspired Beef Bulgogi Pizza recipe. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, simply replace the steak with sliced portobello mushrooms – you’ll get that same meaty flavour.
When Sepial isn’t being superchef, she’s being a superwoman as one of the chef’s behind Female Forward Feasts – a collaboration by five female-owned kitchens and five female-owned wineries, where these power women offer collaborative culinary banquet experiences every Thursday for the month of August.
